Your specific biomechanics will be evaluated for the proper balance of mobility and stability. The goal is to establish pain free movement patterns through patient education and reinforced with appropriate therapeutic exercise, joint and soft tissue mobilizations, muscle energy techniques, taping, dynamic stretching, and inflammation reducing modalities.

These movement patterns should be so well learned that they become consistent at home, work, and in recreational activities. Alignment of the joints of the body is essential in utilizing the muscles appropriately.  Our in office Physical Therapists treat all standard orthopedic injuries.

In treating injured or weakened muscles, HVC tailors muscle rehabilitation treatment by progressing from living with pain to a pain-free lifestyle. We start with passive therapies to alleviate pain, inflammation, and immobility. As necessary, we progress to active therapies to aid treatment and recovery.

The Passive Phase can include a combination of:

  • Acupuncture – Bringing energy balance to the body, reducing and alleviating pain, and providing relief from various health deficiencies.
  • Joint Mobilization or Chiropractic Manipulation – Adjusting joints and eliminating interference to the nervous system, improving spinal function and overall health.
  • Kinesiotaping – Using elastic tape to improve contraction of weakened muscles, normalizing the function of muscles and other connective tissues.
  • Soft Tissue Manipulation – Manual therapy in treating ailments through hands-on physical intervention.
  • Gua Sha
  • Customized Nutrition
  • Laser Therapy
  • Iontophoresis

Physical Therapist Raleigh NCAs pain levels, muscle tightness, and joint immobility decrease, we then progress to a program to improve muscle function. This phase of care is considered the active phase of care, where testing muscle strength, joint range of motion, and ability to perform activities of daily living occurs. Muscle specific exercises and stretches are taught one on one. HVC gives you exercise programs for you to take part in your own recovery.

The Active Phase can include a combination of:

  • Proprioceptive Training – A sensory receptor, found chiefly in muscles, tendons, joints, and the inner ear, that detects the motion or position of the body or a limb by responding to stimuli arising within the organism.
  • Resistance Training – Increasing strength and endurance through exercises with weights, machines, or resistance bands.
  • Sports-Specific Training – Developing the body to the stresses of a particular sport.
  • Self and Manual Stretching – A series of range of motion exercises promoting flexibility and muscle elasticity.
